Munnar, once the summer resort of the British Government in South India is situated at the confluence of 3 major mountain streams, Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala, 1,600m above sea level. Munnar is the gateway to some veiled enchanting sprawling Tea estates offering beauty with exquisiteness making this scenic town an ideal place for hill station tourism. Eravikulam National Park is also famous for its endangered inhabitant – the Nilgiri Tahr and several species of rare butterflies, animals and birds. Located about 13km from Munnar Town, is Mattupetty. Situated at a height of 1700m above sea level, and known for its storage masonry dam and the beautiful lake offers boat rides to enjoy the surrounding hills and landscape. There is also a dairy farm run by the Indo-SwissLivestock Project, where different high yielding cows are bred.

Munnar is a compilation of several popular destinations that include: Pallivasal, located 3km from Chithirapuram & is the venue of the first Hydro-electric project in Kerala. Chinnakanal popularly known as Power House Waterfalls, cascade down a steep rock 2000m above sea level near Munnar. Seven kilometers from Chinnakanal, you can see the beautiful Anayirangal, a lush green carpet of tea plants.

Another attraction, Top Station, about 32km from Munnar is at a height of 1700m above sea level is the highest point on the Munnar-Kodaikanal road. Munnar visit must include the visit to the museum exclusively for tea opened some years ago by Tata Tea in Munnar. This Tea Museum houses stories to tell on the origins and growth of tea plantations in Munnar. The museum is located at the Nallathanni Estate of Tata Tea in Munnar.
