The spice market in Jew Town is a fifteen-minute walk, worth taking slowly instead of rushing through it as a checklist item.

Exploring Kochi: What to Do Near Fragrant Nature Cochin

Fort Kochi's colonial buildings are worth a slow walk on their own. If the Kochi-Muziris Biennale is running during your stay, build time for it. Plan an evening around sunset at the Chinese Fishing Nets; it's one of the better views in the city. Mattancherry has spice markets, antique shops, and Jewish history with the Dutch and Portuguese trading communities, and the hotel is situated near all of that. For a more leisurely pace, visit Ernakulam, where you can do some shopping at Lulu Mall and unwind in the Bolgatty Island backwaters. If you are taking the extra step, you can go to Munnar. The drive passes through the Western Ghats and will take about 4-5 hours, depending on the route and traffic.

The Perfect Kerala Itinerary: Kochi to Munnar in 5 Nights

  • Nights 1-2: Fragrant Nature Cochin. Settle in on arrival, then spend the first afternoon walking Mattancherry. Time the second evening around sunset at the Chinese Fishing Nets.
  • Day 3: Drive to Munnar: The route runs through Neryamangalam and climbs into the Western Ghats, about 125 to 130 km, four to five hours depending on stops. Most people break the drive at the tea estates and waterfalls along the way.
