Echo Point:Quieter than most lists give it credit for, and good for boating shots and reflections.
Top Station: Panoramic views over the Western Ghats to the valley below. Suitable for wider landscape shots than close detail and worth the drive if you're heading toward the Tamil Nadu side.

How to handle gear at altitude

Bring silica gel packets in your bag. A cold lens fogs quickly in Munnar. When going from a warm room to cold morning air, let your gear adjust for about 15 minutes before shooting. The sharpest mornings with clouds come in December to February, while it gets close to freezing before dawn. Dress for it, since shivering hands don't hold a tripod steady. If you prefer greenery but not cold, the months from September through November are the better option, just after the monsoon clears the dust from the air.
